Yuriy Anatolevich Yerofeyev (born May 19, 1966) is a deputy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma from single-member electoral district No. 19 and a member of the United Russia party faction. He serves as director of the municipal sports school "Sormovo" named after Yu. P. Kruglov and of the autonomous non-profit organization "Hockey Club 'Start'". He has served in the City Duma since 2015 and has been elected to it three times — in 2015, 2020, and 2025 — each time from district No. 19 [1][2][3].
Biography and Sport
Born on May 19, 1966, in Gorky. A product of Nizhny Novgorod bandy, he played as a goalkeeper; his first coach was A. P. Nikishin. He played for Start during the 1987/88–1989/90 seasons and appeared in 28 top-division matches for the club. He also played for "Oka" (Navashino) and for the Nizhny Novgorod floorball teams Raduga and Nizhegorodets [4].
A Master of Sport in floorball, he is a multiple champion and medal winner at Russian championships in the discipline. He coached the Nizhegorodets team and the Russian national floorball team; in October 2013, Nizhegorodets under his leadership won the Nizhny Novgorod Region Cup among men's teams [4].
He graduated from the Saint Petersburg National State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Health named after P. F. Lesgaft [1].
Work in Sports Organizations
He heads the Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution of Supplementary Education "Sormovo Sports School named after Y. P. Kruglov." The institution operates at 30 Yubileyny Boulevard, on the grounds of Trud Stadium in the Sormovo District, and was established in 2004 through the transformation of the municipal enterprise "Sormovo Sports and Cultural Center" [5]. The sporting history of the site begins with the Sormovo sports club, which united Sormovo's sections in 1923, and with the stadium opened in 1924; the present-day arena on the peninsula of Parkovoye Lake was built in 1964, and in 1998 the stadium passed into municipal ownership [6].
Since 2014 he has headed the hockey club Start: first a non-profit partnership, and, after the change of its legal form in 2017, the autonomous non-profit organization "Hockey Club Start" [4].
On March 7, 2026, Dmitry Kabaylo, Minister of Sport of Nizhny Novgorod Region, announced organizational decisions following an internal review conducted by the ministry together with the city Department of Physical Culture and Sport, the Sports Management and Development Center, and the club's leadership. The reason was a disrupted quarterfinal match of the Russian bandy championship between Start and Kuzbass: at Trud Stadium, the field pipelines lost pressure and coolant leaked, and the Nizhny Novgorod team was awarded a technical defeat. Yury Yerofeyev, director of the club and the stadium, received a disciplinary reprimand, and the employment of the team's executive director, Alexander Lyutov, was terminated [7].
Election to the City Duma
He first ran for the City Duma in 2015. In the elections to the 6th-convocation Duma he ran for United Russia in District No. 19 as director of the Sormovo children's and youth center, and was not a deputy of the previous convocation [3]. In 2020 he was elected to the 7th-convocation Duma, where he represented the same district [2].
The elections of September 12–14, 2025 were held under a new scheme: after Nizhny Novgorod was merged with Kstovo Municipal Okrug, the number of districts and seats grew from 35 to 39, and the convocation was numbered the first. The Nizhny Novgorod Region Election Commission declared the elections valid in all 39 single-member districts; Yerofeyev was among the 25 deputies of the previous convocation who retained their seats [8]. In District No. 19 he received 67.21% of the vote [9]. The first session of the 1st-convocation Duma was scheduled for September 29, 2025 [8].

In the 1st convocation of the Duma, he serves on the standing committees on road infrastructure and transport development and on patriotic education, youth policy, physical culture, and sports, and is a member of the United Russia faction [1][11].
