Plot
At the city of Sarov Nuclear Centre an incident occurs during physics experiments, as a result of which a yellow cloud grows and covers Nizhny Novgorod, where 30 years later all kinds of evil creatures begin to multiply. Unlike King's "The Mist", the space of the film is mostly populated by numerous successful patriots who overcome difficulties by way of hand-to-hand fights.

The premiere of the Nizhny Novgorod picture “Yellow Cloud” will take place on 31 October at the cinema centre “Rekord” in Nizhny Novgorod with the support of the state enterprise "Oblkinovideoobyedinenie", as reported by the press service of the cinema centre.
To date this film is the company's largest non-commercial film project. Besides the screening of the picture itself, on the day of the premiere the organisers promise “one more small surprise”, but do not disclose the details. I have never written descriptions of films or posted them anywhere. First of all this is because there is plenty of such information in "these here internets of yours". I cannot say that torrent trackers lack films in every possible format and size, or that sites with descriptions (kinopoisk, for example) have not written whole sheets about them, including not only the plot but also numerous critics' ratings and comments.
This time I want to tell you about a film that cannot be found on trackers, on YouTube or simply in Google. Despite being mentioned fairly often (mostly in connection with posters, saying there will be a screening at the Rekord), it cannot be found. Perhaps this has to do with copyright and so on. It was even said that no cam rip was made because people liked the film so much that they did not want to pirate it.
But there is an important "but" to note:
the film was shown in a cinema, which not everyone can always get to, especially residents of other cities (the film was shot in nizhny novgorod, by a Nizhny Novgorod company, and was shown in that same city).
The authors will probably not be too pleased if I change the current state of affairs by writing about the film here and publishing it in open access. It should be noted that I am doing this precisely because I liked the film, and not for money, for ratings on a tracker or anything else. I want this film to be seen by people who have never been to Nizhny and have no way of attending a screening. if someone likes the film, no one forbids them to donate a small (or large) sum to the project's authors. That is far more right than paying only the price of a ticket.
Now about the plot
The theme of the Exclusion Zone, seemingly done to death of late, is presented in a relatively new way. The Strugatskys presented it as an alien visitation, where all the unusual phenomena were simply alien to our world, while for the aliens' world they were quite ordinary; in the game and in part of the S.T.AL.K.E.R. books the version adopted is that of experiments that got out of control, though of entirely earthly origin. In other books of the series the versions differ altogether and are strikingly varied. And here..
A yellow cloud suddenly appeared over Nizhny Novgorod and the region. What it is and where it came from - no one can explain. The authorities declare the territory closed, feed the media a version about an accident at a nuclear power plant, and seal the territory off with a military cordon. For a time the Zone gives no cause for concern, the cordon soldiers are bored with idleness, no one and nothing comes out of the dome formed by the yellow fog into the outside world, nor does anyone make contact. Everyone understands that the population of the city and its surroundings has perished and no one expects anything to happen any more, when suddenly the cloud begins to grow.
The authorities, worried that the cloud might spread as far as Moscow, urgently organize yet another expedition (the previous, military ones did not return), consisting of 5 people: a young woman, an FSB officer; an occultist whom the group calls «Shaman» among themselves; a young hacker named Maxim; a disgraced cop who, incidentally, had once been the one to catch the hacker; and a soldier.
According to the data the group has, one serviceman from the perimeter guard did not vanish when the anomalous dome expanded, as the others did, but survived quite well. Not only does he enter the Zone unhindered, he also periodically comes out of it to the nearest shop for food and essentials. He is the one they have to find, though in fact they do not have to search for long. Literally a few metres after entering the anomalous area the group is attacked by zombies (the film does not say so directly, but that is what they are). The group starts losing the uneven fight, when this strange soldier, the Guide, as they call him from then on, comes to its aid. He helps deal with the zombies and tells them about the peculiarities of this world beyond the cordon.
The aim of the expedition, as he learns, is to locate the centre of the cloud and the reasons for its growth. Despite the Guide's assurances about the dangers of such a journey, the group nevertheless sets off for the centre of the Zone. On the way they encounter many strange things..
I deliberately will not tell the ending, knowing that for many people that kills their interest in a film. Better to see it once than to read a lot of letters, and besides, it is well worth the time spent watching.

Vadim Pugachev: I liked the humour and the drive. The fight scenes are all staged and done well. In terms of a certain liveliness, drive and jokes it is much better than the film "The Expendables", say. But there were scenes that did not convince, for example the scene in which the "shaman" tries to take the book into his power. As for the acting, the impression was mixed - the fair sex in the film did not impress. At the same time the main male characters are good. I came out of the Rekord definitely feeling that going to the film had not been a waste. I was left with the feeling that you have some interesting ideas, that you tried to combine different genres in your film. So thank you and the crew for this film Then again, as they say: you do not judge a singer by one song. So I am waiting for the next film. If I were the state, I would give the money for cinema not to Popogrebsky, but to you)
Alexey Trutnev: I watched the film. I was left with a mass of real impressions, I even dreamt of bits of the film at night. I want to note the following: The picture quality is excellent, I think you were being coy. In full quality I cannot even imagine what a beauty it would be. The sound is cinematic, the music is great. I sat through the whole film, and it was interesting all the way, I never felt like yawning. About the fights I say nothing. I have been to many such premieres in Nizhny, but I have not seen ones like these. They are alive and powerful, and most importantly they look genuine somehow, and you could not repeat them.
Otherwise all sorts of acrobats try to do fights, well they somersault, they fall, but the result is not the same, you can see the artificiality. And here I truly got a kick out of watching. The effects...shocked me!!!!!! There are a few complaints. You can see that several cameramen shot it. I know all of you, I tried to work out who shot what. I noticed that the camerawork is very professional and interesting in those places where the main character, Alexander Kondratenko, is absent. He probably shot those. Because almost all the shots he appears in are not very good. The last fight with the guys in black is staged and played amazingly, and even edited well, but the cameraman messed up good and proper.
I liked the character Max, who kept making people laugh, but that is more of a plus for the person who created him and a minus for the person who cast the actor in the role. There is absolutely no acting there. What is more, excuse me of course, but you could have found a more pleasant person. He is somehow really unpleasant. The FSB woman apparently cannot act very well either, you can see the performance was brought up to scratch in the edit. The farewell scene drags. At first I thought that was a minus, but now I know that the director simply sensed in his gut that it had to be that way.
When we got home from the cinema, my wife and I were discussing exactly that scene, it stayed before my eyes. Had it been shorter, I do not think it would have produced such an effect. They overdid it with the action, but since I love this genre, I watched with pleasure, thank you to the director for that excess. Keep it up, guys!!! Well done!!!

Semyon Sebastyanov: Yes, the toothy one spoiled the whole film. But all the same the film is wonderful. The scene I remember is when the black one comes and figures everyone out. The camera work there is brilliant. The opening credits are shot in a cool way too. Yes, almost the whole film is a five. I didn't like the shots where they walk through the city, but what effects! Oh, great! Splendid, guys. When the crazed soldiers attacked the group, that was just wild. What a scene!!! Oleg Ryabinin: We had a good rest, we left the cinema in a good mood. Somehow we really were transported into that yellow cloud. A soulful film, despite the flaws that you have written about here. It doesn't even fit in the head how something like this can be shot without funding. My wife even shed a tear at the parting scene. And I enjoyed watching a piece of a real western at the end of the film. They don't make them now, and I love them. You can see at once that the guys can shoot films of different genres with success. Artur Proskuryakov: I'm going to say and tell you everything now. Needless to say, the picture quality is bad. For the Record Film Center it's simply the plague! The Record doesn't know how to show HD. This film is a real film! With all the components. I've seen premieres like that at the Record, and I'll say that it wasn't cinema but some kind of puke. Somebody talks with somebody for 10 minutes and that's it. And here there's a real film. It's like comparing "Avatar" with an episode of "Sasha + Masha". Yes, I also didn't like this one who played Max. You can see the director was dragging him along by the ears.
The rest played quite well. Only the fight scenes can be played only by the actor who played the Guide and the leader of the bandits... and also the bald fellow, though he blew his dialogue. The rest aren't for action films. The girls behaved much more warlike in the minutes of danger than, say, the cop. Maybe that's how it was intended... The effects are just AWEEEESOOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEE!!! wow HIP-HIP Hooray. The fights and shootouts too. The script, they say there's an overload of genres, but that's the trick. It makes you think very well. Many things only sank in a few days after the viewing. A very deep meaning, and the main thing, a readable one! I liked the bandits, the black ones brought on terror. I watched a real, worthwhile film! Thanks to the authors. When there's a disc, we'll definitely buy it.

There's no need even to explain anything. This is a significant event for Nizhny. In the whole history of the city nobody has ever shot anything like this among the non-commercial people. And nobody will! When is "Lishnie", and where to buy the disc. If you don't sell the disc with "Yellow Cloud", I'll come to "Lishnie" with a camera and pirate it!

Thank you for the film! You frightened me that it was too brutal and scary. But I got frightened only once - you prepared me well, apparently. Everything is done very sincerely - and that is felt in everything. Such kind energy. That's a rarity now - against the background of all the unjustifiably fat-budgeted pictures of recent years, when the idea is a dud - and the money is as if for saving the world... And even the fact that you state the main things declaratively, too directly - that's probably what's needed now. So that everyone hears. Although I would think about how to do it a bit more subtly - in contrast with the martial arts it would play even stronger. And there still lives in you - and sometimes climbs out and plays pranks - that Indian whom you played in childhood. But again this worked for you and for the film - it added charm. And in life with real people this happens quite often. And the fights are cool and in places very highly artistic! And I, as a dancer, simply liked some scenes very much - I watched them holding my breath and smiling. And the types of the fighters are so different! it's wonderful that you don't pick everyone to match yourself.
And although you are beyond competition, where did you find such a ballet-like National Bolshevik boy? Even in the difficult kicks he pointed his toes - just a blast! But all the scary stuff, the non-human inside the cloud - it turned out, forgive me, somehow fairy-tale-like. Although rather from the good fairy tales - of the Soviet period, the kind even Hollywood envied.
