Skoba is a block at the intersection of Rozhdestvenskaya Street (named after Mayakovsky in Soviet times) and Zelensky Descent. It is named after a building shaped like a bracket (a "skoba"), located not far from the former Rukavishnikov bank.
The lower station of the funicular begins at Skoba: the lift runs from here, from the foot of the Church of John the Forerunner, to the Clock Tower of the Kremlin. The historic elevator operated from 1896 to 1926, and the restored The Nizhny Novgorod Funicular opened on September 15, 2024.
