This category collects articles about monasteries and hermitages of Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast — active, abolished, and revived. The monastic tradition in the region spans several centuries: religious houses arose both within the city and in remote rural areas, and many of them survived closure in the Soviet period followed by revival.
