In 2010, a youth and family center called "Semya" (Family) was opened at the monastery. Two healing springs near the monastery — "Pokrov of the Most Holy Theotokos" and "Joy of All Who Sorrow" — are held in particular veneration by pilgrims; among the monastery's sacred objects is a reliquary containing particles of the relics of more than thirty saints.[1][2]
Pokrovsky Women's Monastery — founded as a women's monastic community in 2000. By decision of the Holy Synod of 26 December 2006, it was elevated to the status of a monastery. The Pokrovsky Women's Monastery is the first monastery of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese to have been founded after 1917. The revival of monastic life in the selo of Lukino began in 1993, when the Pokrovsky Church — built in 1866 and closed in the 1930s — began to be restored. The monastery received its status by the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II and Archbishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas George on the day of the Council of the Most Holy Theotokos — 8 January 2007.[1][2]
The abbess is nun Varvara (Zhukova). According to the portal of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism "Monastyrsky Vestnik," the monastery is headed by Abbess Gavriila (Sukhanova).[2]
