The Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is the regional branch of the All-Russian Union of Journalists of Russia, a professional organization of the journalistic community of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It brings together professional journalists of the region; in particular, it maintains the "Golden Fund," an honorary register of the organization's most distinguished members.
Leadership
Since November 2006, the chair of the board of the Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast has been Olga Noskova — a journalist, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, candidate of philological sciences, and academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS). The organization was registered on 17 December 1991; its legal address is Nizhny Novgorod, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya St., 60. The organization's actual address is Nizhny Novgorod, Kostina St., 2, office 131 (right wing of the building, 1st floor); telephone: 430-68-42. The organization's email is journ.nn@gmail.com; the union's website is registered with Roskomnadzor as an online publication.[5][4][2] In March 2024, Olga Noskova announced her intention to step down as chair; a reporting-and-election conference of the regional Union of Journalists was scheduled for June 2024 to elect a new leader. Since 10 July 2024, the chair of the organization's board has been Andrei Nikolaevich Kleshchev.[2][1] In parallel, Noskova held the post of director of the television and radio company NNTV (from 1991) and subsequently moved to the position of Minister of Social Policy in the Government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
Membership and the "Golden Fund"
The organization confers the status of member of the Union of Journalists of Russia along with enrollment in the Golden Fund of the Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Among those enrolled in the Golden Fund is scholar and publicist Gennady Nikolaevich Gorshenkov, vice-president of the Russian Criminological Association and a member of a number of academic councils. The Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast brings together around 1,000 members — employees of print and electronic media — including holders of military and labor orders, honorary citizens, and doctors and candidates of sciences; the organization's main source of funding is membership dues. The Union's staff includes three deputy chairs — Nazary Mikhailovich Zeleny, Svetlana Yevgenyevna Kulikova, and Sergei Fyodorovich Laptev — as well as executive director Valentina Alexandrovna Mironova and chief accountant Nadezhda Borisovna Kryakova.[5] The organization holds regular creative workshops for journalists of regional and district editorial offices at the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Information Center (NOIC), and also brings editorial offices together into territorial creative associations — in particular, the Severnoye and Semyonovskoye associations of journalists.
In 2026, the Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast summed up the results of a three-year project, "Great Writers of the Small Homeland: Traditional Values of Small Territories in the Works of Local Writers and Publications of Local Media. A Dialogue of Generations," carried out with support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives; over the three years, the project included more than a dozen literary and local-history expeditions, including to Arzamas, Sergach, Bogorodsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kovernino, involving journalists, local historians, representatives of local administrations, and staff of cultural institutions.[4][3]
Before joining the Union of Journalists, Noskova worked at the Gorky Television Studio and also served as a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.[1]
