Previous places of work
From 1967 to 1974 he worked in the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gorky Regional Executive Committee, and from 1985 to 1986 he headed the training center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Komi Republic. In 1994 he led the establishment, in the city of Syktyvkar, of a branch of the Moscow Special Secondary School of Militia, and became its first head. He served as head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at Syktyvkar State University, and as head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law at the Komi Republican Academy of Civil Service and Administration.[1]
Main areas of scientific activity
Work on the terminological vocabulary of criminology; study of juvenile delinquency and violent crime; scientific support of state administration in the field of combating crime; the determination and prevention of crimes in the mass media sphere. He is engaged in developing the concept of "Criminology of Mass Communications."
Publications
More than 500 scholarly, journalistic works and literary works, more than 60 of them published in recent years: the monograph "Criminology of Mass Communications" (2003), the textbook "Strategy for Crime Prevention" (2005, co-authored), the monograph "Crime as a Legal Fiction" (2006), the textbook "Scientific Research as a Form of Teaching Criminology" (2006), the "Criminological Dictionary" (2007), and others. In 2007 the "Criminological Dictionary," submitted by the Lobachevsky University of Nizhny Novgorod publishing house to a competition of educational and scholarly publications held in the Volga Federal District, was awarded a first-degree diploma in three categories. Under the scientific supervision of G.N. Gorshenkov, six candidate dissertations have been defended.

Member of the dissertation council at the Police Academy of the Russian Federation. Member of the Russian Academy of Legal Sciences. Vice-President of the Russian Criminological Association. Member of the all-Russian public organization — the nationwide human rights union "Man and the Law." Member of the Union of Journalists of Russia, inducted into the Golden Fund of the Union of Journalists of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast). Member of the scientific-methodological council of the federal publication "Sledovatel" (The Investigator). Member of the editorial board of the scientific-practical journal "Rossiysky Kriminologichesky Vzglyad" (Russian Criminological Outlook).
Awards
Medals "Labor Veteran," "50 Years of Soviet Militia," "For Impeccable Service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR" III, II, and I degree, the medal "For Sacrificial Service" of the All-Russian Public Movement "Orthodox Russia," the medal "For Honor in Service" of the Vladimir Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the State Duma's badge of distinction "Deputy Reserve," the State Duma's commemorative jubilee badge "The State Duma. 100 Years," the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs badge "Excellent Militiaman," the commemorative badge of the Murom Institute of Vladimir State University, and the activist badge of the Soviet Peace Fund. The name of the first Doctor of Law of the Komi Republic, Professor G.N. Gorshenkov, is entered in the book of scholars of the Komi Republic "Portrait of the Intellect" (2001), as well as in the encyclopedic dictionary of biographies "Prominent Legal Scholars of Russia (Second Half of the 20th Century)" (Moscow: RAP, 2006).
Hobbies
Joint scholarly work with his sons, candidates of legal sciences, popularization of criminology (including with the help of computer graphics), photography, fishing, literary sketches in prose and verse.
