Sosnovskoye is a village in the Nikolo-Pogostinsky rural settlement of Gorodets District, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. From January 1, 2027, it will receive the status of a khutor (hamlet) as part of administrative reorganizations in the region.

Change of status

In 2026 the authorities of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast approved a series of administrative changes in Gorodets District, taking effect on January 1, 2027. The village of Sosnovskoye was reclassified as a khutor (hamlet). At the same time, The Village of Yagodnoye in the same district was granted the status of a selo (larger village), while the villages of Karavaevo and Oskordino in the Smolki rural settlement were abolished and absorbed into the selo of Smolki.

These changes are part of broader shifts on the map of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast: in Varnavino District, the rural settlement of Yelevaya Zavod was simultaneously eliminated, having long had no registered residents. Over the past two decades, about 120 settlements with no permanent population have disappeared from the region's map.
