Oskordino is a village in the Smolki rural council of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. From January 1, 2027, it ceases to exist as an independent settlement: under laws signed by Governor Gleb Nikitin in August 2026 and approved by the region's Legislative Assembly in July 2026, the village becomes part of the village of Smolki.[1][2]

Abolition

The decision to merge Oskordino with the neighboring village of Karavaevo and the village of Smolki into a single settlement was made in order to include the territory in the gas-supply expansion program.[2][4] The corresponding changes take effect on January 1, 2027.[3]

The abolition of Oskordino is part of broader administrative reorganization in the region: at the same time, in Varnavino district the Yelevaya Zavod is being eliminated (the reason being a long-standing absence of registered residents), while a number of other settlements in Gorodets district are changing status — The Village of Yagodnoye, while Sosnovskoye Village).[2] Over the past two decades, about 120 settlements with no remaining residents have disappeared from the map of Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1]
