Lukoyanovsky Uyezd was an administrative-territorial unit within the Nizhny Novgorod Viceroyalty, and later the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate, existing from 1779 until the October Revolution of 1917.
History
The uyezd was established in 1779 during the provincial reform of Catherine II as part of the Nizhny Novgorod Viceroyalty — alongside Semyonovsky, Knyagininsky, Nizhny Novgorod Uyezd, Makaryevsky County, Sergachsky, Arzamassky, and a number of other uyezds. In 1796, under Paul I, the viceroyalty was reorganized into the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate; Lukoyanovsky Uyezd remained part of it. The administrative division of the governorate, with Lukoyanovsky Uyezd among its units, remained unchanged right up to the October Revolution.
Present Day
On the territory of the former Lukoyanovsky Uyezd there is now the Lukoyanovsky District, with its administrative center in the Lukoyanov.
