Knyaginino Uyezd was an administrative-territorial unit of the Nizhny Novgorod Vicegerency, and later of Nizhny Novgorod Governorate, that existed from 1779. Its uyezd town was Knyaginino.
History
The uyezd was formed in 1779 as part of the Nizhny Novgorod Vicegerency, established during the provincial reform of Catherine II. After the vicegerency was transformed into Nizhny Novgorod Governorate in 1796, Knyaginino Uyezd became part of it alongside Arzamas Uyezd, Ardatov, Balakhna Uyezd), Vasilsursk, Gorbatov, Nizhny Novgorod Uyezd, Makaryev, Lukoyanov, Sergachsky Uyezd, and other uyezds.
Present-day status
The territory of the former Knyaginino Uyezd largely corresponds to the present-day Knyaginin District, with its district center in the town of Knyaginino.
