Line technician at the city telephone network (GTS), correspondent for the newspapers "Krasny Sormovich" and "Na Strazhe"; 1971-1972 — inspector for the protection of historical monuments at the Gorky city department of culture, 1972-1992 — officer of the criminal investigation department staff and the press center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region internal affairs directorate (UVD); 1989-1992 — editor of the regional legal newspaper "Sobytiya i Fakty" ("Events and Facts"); 1990-2001 — editor of the newspaper "Prosto Anekdot" ("Just a Joke"). Laureate of the N.A. Dobrolyubov Prize (1996). Author of a number of books on aphorisms and anecdotes: "A.S. Pushkin in Anecdotes", "An Anecdote from the Sovereign's Court", "A Little Something About a Little Something, or Zigzags of Thought", "In Praise of Wit", "Tatsitataiztatsita", and others (1990-1998); the book "Bank 'Nizhny Novgorod' and Its Collection".
Membership in public, scholarly, and other organizations
Member of the Union of Journalists, the Union of Writers, and the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation. A member of the Bell-Ringing Art Association of the Russian Federation.
Hobbies
Collecting paintings and graphic art. Owner of the largest collection of visiting (calling) cards (dating from the 19th century). Fragments of the collection have been exhibited in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. He has donated more than 10,000 items to 37 museums, archives, and libraries (including 450 autographed books to the regional library); a personal fund of local-history materials (2,000 items) has been established for him at the regional State Archive. He assembled a rare collection of 19th-century harness (coachman's) bells.
