Zhukov Square is a square in the Prioksky District, located on Gagarin Avenue. It serves as a reference point for the surrounding area: from it begins the stretch of the avenue unofficially called Sakharov Avenue, which leads toward the Shcherbinki-2 terminus. The square includes Zhukov Square).
Location and surroundings
The square is located in the Shcherbinki district, where in Soviet times private housing was completely demolished and replaced with multi-storey apartment buildings. Among the landmarks traditionally mentioned alongside the square are the State Agricultural Academy ("Selkhoz"), the Frunze Plant, and Gagarin Avenue. Near the square is the apartment where academician A. D. Academician Sakharov; it now houses a Sakharov Museum.
