The nature of the phenomenon
A Nizhny Novgorod veteran, author of narrative poems and stories, as well as sketches about animals for children, born in the depths of the Kostroma region. Getting acquainted with the work of Sergei Vavilychev, one comes to understand what a serious task the leaders of the Soviet state set themselves in seeking to raise universal, comprehensively and harmoniously developed people, and one may indulge in reflection on what came of it.
About himself
Who is this Vavilychev, Sergei? I'm one of those who's brisker than most. I have a decent family And a fine biography I was born in 1958 What I did daily for the growth of soul and body, In my youth I took up sport in earnest, From the age of fifteen I began writing verse,
At twenty-two my course at the Polytechnic ended, And on the eve of it I married for love. Our handsome son Andrei was born to us - The plan of youth was fully realized... The late lamented uncle ran the Soviet District for many years, A true participant in acts of mercy, They say I write with insight, with truth, 2010
On his father's fate
... The house confiscated. We have nowhere to live. But, despite all the turmoil, Mother never lost - her hope. She believed that the trouble Of families such, fallen upon misfortune, No small number of our people Two years later Father was cleared. 2006
On relatives and family
... Nizhny Novgorod - that is the city In which we all came together again, And, showing no small mettle, We got everything we needed here. Now we all live in comfort, Of course, we all married, I believe that our life The children grew up wonderfully, 2006
On his father's career
... A pity the defense was stalled: My chief fell into disfavor... The whole dissertation collapsed. In essence - it was total ruin. I had to redo I worked at the veterinary inspectorate. I was sent to Somalia. ... We bought a "Volga" car. Novosibirsk, Moscow, Lvov,
But then in Nizhny I heard - The Agricultural University had set up its own council itself... Without much burden to myself I got everything done all proper and correct. I defended successfully here 2006
On Russia
Russia - a community of peoples With differing tongues and faiths. And with an unbridled freedom, Boundless by any measure. Religion, language and custom The Peoples of Nizhny Novgorod - powerless, Rus drew them all to itself, The people managed to unite,
And yet it must be admitted: The neighbors came to us themselves, So that ill-wishers could understand - Better not to joke with Russia. ... And the tsar thought it all through rightly: And in the ordering of the USA Their patriotism is enviable, People found their place there
People still strive to go there, For life for them is worthier than ours. There anyone can distinguish himself And take from life a full cup. Of the advantages of America And still an end came to it all: The whole matter is that from the outset By the constitution of the Union
It must be said here plainly, The Communists' power is to blame for this. Having devised such a policy, The people can no longer be gathered into union. All these changes are foolish, But the main thing, perhaps, is In short, enough of pessimism, 2005
On service as checkpoint commandant in Chechnya
It was a wonderful time, Golden autumn stood, We slept peacefully at the temporary base, Five sentries kept watch over us. But then a treacherous enemy Into one of the sleeping quarters, where three men were, Everyone took their firing positions,
Everything boiled inside us, But the enemy's provocation did not succeed. The unit only gritted its teeth hard, But did not fire on the peaceful houses.
On dogs
I especially want to say something about dogs, ordinary stray dogs. At night, when our forces were especially vulnerable to illegal armed formations, they more than once forestalled possible sudden attacks, sensing strangers already two hundred meters off and raising a furious bark. What was remarkable was that the dogs clearly distinguished friend from foe, even if a person appeared in the unit for the first time. The smells of the uniform, the weapons, or some particular Russian scent served as an indicator for telling ours from strangers, but they barked unerringly, and so the stray dogs were treated with affection and fed with care, and they in turn kept vigilant watch in heat, cold, and slush alike.
