The Nizhny Novgorod Construction Technical College (NST) is a state-funded professional educational institution (GBPOU) offering secondary vocational education in the construction field in Nizhny Novgorod, and it operates to this day.[1] During the Soviet period it was known as the Gorky Construction Technical College.[1] The college trains specialists for Nizhny Novgorod Region and ranks 19th in the national employment rating of secondary vocational education graduates in the construction industry among institutions with large graduating classes.[2]
Educational activities
The college runs full-time and correspondence programs in 11 specialties. Full-time programs are offered in: "Architecture" (07.02.01), "Design" (54.02.01), "Construction and Operation of Buildings and Structures" (08.02.01), "Information Modeling in Construction" (08.02.15), "Installation and Operation of Internal Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Ventilation Systems" (08.02.13), "Applied Geodesy" (21.02.08 / 21.02.20), "Hotel Business" (43.02.14), "Tourism and Hospitality" (43.02.16), "Rational Use of Natural Resource Management Systems" (20.02.01), and "Production of Non-Metallic Construction Products and Structures" (08.02.03). Trade professions are represented by the programs "Carpentry, Joinery, Parquet and Glazing Master" (08.01.24), "General Construction Works Master" (08.01.27), and "Finishing Construction and Decorative Works Master" (08.01.28).[1] Correspondence education is offered in the specialty "Construction and Operation of Buildings and Structures".[1]
Admissions for 2026 total 475 places: 400 government-funded (84%) and 75 fee-paying (16%). Of these, 450 places are full-time and 25 correspondence. 95% of places are allocated for applicants after grade 9, and 5% for those after grade 11. The average school-certificate grade of applicants for government-funded places is 4.30, and for fee-paying places, 4.19. Tuition costs start at 35,000 rubles per year.[2] By number of government-funded places, the college ranks 7th among colleges in Nizhny Novgorod, and by admissions size, 11th in the city and 15th in the region; the average school-certificate grade of applicants is higher than at 83% of Russian colleges.[2]
The college operates: a dormitory, a library, the Stroitel student sports club, the Museum of Military Glory, a center for professional qualifications, a career center, and a methodological office.[1]
Graduates and staff
The college has trained construction and installation foremen, construction technicians, and engineering and technical personnel, some of whom continued their education at specialized universities, including the Chkalov Gorky Civil Engineering Institute (GISI).[1] A number of graduates have taken leadership positions in the region's construction sector.[1]
The college's director was Demin Nikolai Alexandrovich (born March 23, 1947) — a candidate of economic sciences, associate professor, and Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation.[2]

In the national employment rating of secondary vocational education graduates in the construction industry (among institutions with large graduating classes), the college ranks 19th out of 126, with a final score of 1.07. By admissions size, the institution surpasses 76% of colleges in the Russian Federation.[2]
