Key career facts

He has been engaged in artistic wood carving since 1980. In 1990-1991 he was the head of the wood-carving club at the Gaidar Palace of Culture. In 1993 he developed his own concept of a technical and artistic wood-carving manner — the single-chisel technique. In 1995 he founded his own wood-carving school-studio "Single-Chisel Technique". Author of 4 textbooks. A special place in his work has been occupied by carved icons since 1990, ornamental carving since 1997, and small-form sculpture since 2000. Participant in city, regional, interregional, All-Russian and international exhibitions and festivals; laureate and diploma winner. His works are held in several museums of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Author and director of annual Nizhny Novgorod festivals: "Secrets of Wood" (1995-1997), "Craft Gallery)" (2000-2006), "Bratina" (2002-2005), "Rodniki" (2004-2005). Author of a number of articles on decorative and applied art issues in the Nizhny Novgorod press. Initiator and one of the founders of the first Russian professional union of masters of decorative and applied art; in 2001-2006 — head of the union, expert of the wood-working craft guild.

Awards

For his creative and public activity he was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the City Duma and Administration of the city of Nizhny Novgorod, a letter of gratitude from the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and a letter of thanks from the Regional Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
