Bars NN is a volunteer detachment operating in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and involved in repelling drone attacks together with forces of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the National Guard.
Involvement in repelling drone attacks (August 2026)
During a series of drone attacks on Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in August 2026, fighters of the detachment were repeatedly mentioned among the forces involved in intercepting the drones. On 12 August 2026, when 11 drones were shot down over the region, Governor Gleb Nikitin reported that the raid had been repelled with the participation of fighters of the "Bars-NN" detachment alongside air defence and electronic warfare forces.
On 16 August 2026, following the strike on Dzerzhinsk, the city's mayor Mikhail Klinkov thanked the fighters of the "BARS-NN" detachment, as well as employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, police, medical staff and utility services who took part in the response.
On the night of 18–19 August 2026, during the most large-scale attack of the series, forces of the Ministry of Defence, the National Guard and fighters of the "Bars NN" volunteer detachment intercepted and destroyed 52 drones over the region.
