Popov Alexei Nikolaevich (born April 8, 1939) — professor at the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev, Doctor of Technical Sciences.

Key facts of his career
He was kept on for teaching work at the "Theoretical Mechanics" department, where he worked until 1994. In 1971 he defended his candidate's dissertation, and in 1990 his doctoral dissertation. In 1994 he received the title of professor. From 1994 to 2004 he headed the "Ship Theory and Hydromechanics" department, and from 2004 he has been a professor at the same department. Since 1987 — academic secretary of the dissertation Council at the shipbuilding faculty.
Field of scientific interests
Nonlinear numerical analysis of the stress-strain state of spatial ship structures under dynamic loading. Author of about 100 scientific and scientific-methodological works, including 2 scientific monographs.
