Vyacheslav Sukhov (30 August 1939 — August 2026) was a Nizhny Novgorod scholar and educator, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor of the Department of Heating and Ventilation at Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU). He worked at the university for more than half a century, specializing in heating and heat supply.[1]

Life and work at the university

He was born on 30 August 1939.[2] In 1968 he graduated from the Gorky Institute of Civil Engineering (now NNGASU) and was immediately taken onto the staff of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation.[3] He went on to continue his research and teaching work at the Department of Heating and Ventilation, with which he remained connected until the end of his life.[1] Thus Sukhov's entire professional biography — more than fifty years — turned out to be inseparably linked to a single university.[4]

In 2009 he defended his candidate's dissertation on "Formation of microclimate parameters in underground pedestrian crossings."[2] At NNGASU he was described as a highly skilled specialist in the field of heating and heat supply.[1]

Scholarly and pedagogical legacy

Over the years Sukhov produced more than 150 publications, including 32 teaching aids.[1][3] He was recognized with departmental awards, commendations, and honorary certificates.[3]

Remembrance

He died in his 87th year in August 2026.[1] The farewell ceremony took place on 15 August 2026 from 9:00 to 10:00 in the funeral hall of the City Funeral Agency on Yablonevaya Street, 18.[1][4] He was buried at the The Cemetery in Fedyakovo, next to his daughter.[1][2] The leadership and staff of NNGASU expressed their condolences to his family and loved ones.[4]
