The cemetery bears the official name "Nizhegorodskoye." In March 2021, its second phase opened for burials, permitting interments in general civil, family-related, and family plots. In December 2024, a City Hall decree dated 3 December 2024 suspended the allocation of family and family-related burial plots at the Nizhegorodskoye Cemetery due to the exhaustion of available sections; only confessional and honorary plots, as well as burials by petition, remained accessible. Honorary burials at the cemetery are granted upon petition from the city's head for deceased individuals who have rendered services to the region. Simultaneously with the closure of family plots in December 2024, burials in the military section of the cemetery were also suspended; however, permission for additional interments in already existing graves in all sections remains obtainable with the required documentation.[3][2][1][1][1]
