Vladimir Vladimirovich Krylov (born June 2, 1948, in Gorky) is a Doctor of Technical Sciences and professor. For twenty years he headed the Department of Circuit Theory and Telecommunications at the Nizhny Novgorod Technical University, worked at Intel and Microsoft, leads the university's Big Data Technologies Laboratory, and teaches at the Nizhny Novgorod Vysshaya Shkola of Economics [1][2].
Department of Circuit Theory
He graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute named after A. A. Zhdanov in 1971, majoring in radio engineering [2]. He defended his candidate's dissertation in 1973 and his doctoral dissertation in 1983, and was awarded the rank of professor in 1985 [2].
From 1983 to 2003 — twenty consecutive years — he headed the Department of Circuit Theory and Telecommunications; during that time, more than twenty-five postgraduate students defended their dissertations under his supervision [2].
The Lenin Komsomol Prize in Science and Technology at the Polytechnic Institute was awarded to a group of six: A. V. Andriyanov, V. D. Glushkov, S. Ya. Korsakov, Krylov, E. B. Maramchina, and D. M. Ponomarev [3]. Krylov is a full member of the Russian Academy of Engineering Sciences [2].

Corporations
After leaving the department, Krylov moved into industry: he served as Research and Development Manager at Intel Corporation, Regional Director for Developer Relations at Microsoft, Vice President of the Nizhny Novgorod company Tekom, and Director of MeraLabs [2]. Nizhny Novgorod was a fitting place for such a transition — Intel's development center opened there in 2000.
Under Krylov's editorship, the book WiMAX — Wireless Communication Technology: Theoretical Foundations, Standards, and Applications was published in 2005 by the St. Petersburg publisher BKhV-Peterburg. It was prepared by Russian specialists on commission and using materials from Intel, and became the first publication in Russian on the fundamentals of broadband wireless communications [4].
Big Data
Krylov heads the Big Data Technologies Laboratory at the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseyev, remains a professor at the university, chairs the state examination board, serves on the academic council for awarding degrees in systems analysis and the theoretical foundations of computer science, and works as an expert for the Skolkovo Foundation [2].
At the Nizhny Novgorod Vysshaya Shkola of Economics, he teaches simulation modeling to undergraduate business informatics students and leads a master's research seminar on data mining methods and computational linguistics [2]. His doctoral student A. S. Ponomarenko received the IBM PhD Fellowship Award in March 2016 [2].
Krylov presents his own research at seminars held by the laboratory of algorithms and technologies for network structure analysis at the Nizhny Novgorod Vysshaya Shkola — including, for example, a paper on a self-organizing data structure based on the preference relation [5].
Books
In 2011, the Moscow publisher Vysshaya Shkola released the textbook Foundations of Circuit Theory, co-authored with S. Ya. Korsakov and V. S. Syuvatkin: the authors condensed the traditional sections of the course and added new ones — oscillation generation in electric circuits, linear circuits, and filters [4].
In 2015, NSTU published the work Technology for Protecting Software-Defined Networks Against DDoS Attacks Based on the Principle of Dynamic IP Address Changing, co-authored with E. S. Sokolova, D. A. Lyakhmanov, and D. V. Dmitriev. It proposes a principle of non-semantic filtering of malicious traffic [4].
Krylov is included in the list of distinguished alumni and staff members of NSTU [3].
