Uzhovka is an urban-type settlement in the Pochinkovskiy Municipal District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, serving as the administrative and infrastructure center of the surrounding rural area. It acts as a hub for several localities in the district, with a combined population of around three and a half thousand people.

Transport connections

The Uzhovka–Rizovotovo–Madayevo road passes through Uzhovka, providing transport links to the villages of Rizovotovo and Madayevo, as well as access to Baykovo, Syryatin, Puzskaya Sloboda, and other localities in the district. The road intersects with the federal highway Nizhny Novgorod–Saratov and is used as a bypass route during periods of seasonal traffic restrictions on adjacent sections of the road network. In September 2026, repairs were completed on a 14-kilometer section of this road under the national project "Infrastructure for Life"; the contract value was 242 million rubles.

Infrastructure

The settlement's service area includes three schools, three kindergartens, and three community centers. In August 2026, a new building for Fire Station No. 176 opened in Uzhovka, designed to serve eight localities in the district. Uzhovka is connected to Nizhny Novgorod by bus: Bus No. 506 on the Saransk–Nizhny Novgorod route stops in Uzhovka and continues via Lukoyanov, Shatki, and Arzamas to the Scherbinki bus terminal; the journey takes approximately 4 hours, and the service runs daily, operated by Mordovavtotrans.[1] The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the Pochinkovskiy District, Andrey Melin.
