Trolleybus Depot No. 3 No. 1 — an enterprise for the maintenance and storage of trolleybus (and electric bus) rolling stock in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. The administrative address of the enterprise's dispatch office is Minin and Pozharsky Square, building 6; the depot's actual production facilities are located in Sovetsky District, near General Ivliev Street.[2]

History and composition

On the depot's grounds, a MTB-82D trolleybus has been placed on permanent display — a monument to technology commemorating the early period of Nizhny Novgorod's trolleybus history. The vehicle is recorded in the depot's documents under garage number 157, although transport history enthusiasts have noted that such numbers were not historically assigned to MTB-series trolleybuses: the number was entered into the technical department's records in 1997 based on eyewitness accounts.[3]

The depot is operated by the municipal enterprise "Nizhegorodelectrotrans".[2] In 2024, "MiNiN" electric buses of joint Russian-Belarusian production, assembled at a plant in Vorsma, began to be based here. The electric buses entered service on trolleybus route No. 17 on 1 March 2024. In April 2024, one of the electric buses was delivered to the depot on a tow truck: witnesses photographed it being steered from General Ivliev Street onto the depot grounds with the help of a cable attached to a lorry. In the comments, residents speculated that the vehicle had run out of charge — this occurred against a backdrop of reports about breakdowns of the new equipment during its first weeks of operation.[1]

Major overhaul

Depot No. 1 is one of three trolleybus depots in Nizhny Novgorod for which Nizhegorodelectrotrans had planned a major overhaul. Initial contracts totalling approximately 769 million rubles were concluded with LLC "Liga"; the contractor received an advance payment of 368 million rubles from infrastructure budget loan funds. Work was scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, but the contract was disrupted. In August 2026, new contractors were identified: the total value of contracts for the overhaul of all three depots came to approximately 435 million rubles.
