From 1987 to 1995 she worked at the Department of Social Pedagogy, Psychology and Subject Methods of Primary Education of the Pedagogical University; since 1995 she has been head of the Department of Primary Education at the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Education Development.

Key facts of her work

Author of more than 100 published scholarly and methodological works. She developed integrated courses in the Russian language and literary reading for primary school — "The Living Spring", the course "Civic Education in Nizhny Novgorod Region", the programs "Image and Thought" and "Speech Development of Younger Schoolchildren", and more than 25 study courses for students of the Psychology and Pedagogy Faculty of NGPU. With the direct involvement of S.K. Tivikova, more than 2,500 students of the Psychology and Pedagogy Faculty received training and around 4,500 primary school teachers — from both Nizhny Novgorod Region and other regions — received retraining. Under S.K. Tivikova's leadership the department has introduced innovative forms of continuing education for primary-school teachers, including modular qualification courses that allow for teachers' individual professional needs, master classes, and pedagogical workshops.

Membership in scientific and public organizations

Member of the Academic Council and the Scientific-Methodological Expert Council of NIRO, and of the Expert Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Region. Member of the editorial board of the journal "Pedagogical Review".

Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the title "Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation".
