On October 8, 2026, at the XXVIII Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition "Golden Autumn"" in Moscow, the government of Nizhny Novgorod Region and the agricultural holding "Russkoye Pole" signed an agreement to build a broiler chicken farming complex in the selo of Ababkovo in Pavlovsky District. The investment will total 2.15 billion rubles.[1]

Project parameters

The complex includes 18 poultry houses, each with a capacity of 55,000 birds. The site's total output is up to 17,000 tons of chicken meat per year, which, by the parties' estimates, will raise the region's self-sufficiency in chicken meat by 10%.[1] Completion of construction is planned for 2027.[2] The complex is to feature modern automated equipment and innovative biosecurity technologies; all houses will operate on an "all-in, all-out" basis, with complete sterilization before each new flock is brought in.[1]

Context

At the time the agreement was signed, only one enterprise in Nizhny Novgorod Region was engaged in raising broilers, and the niche was considered practically unoccupied.[1] The Ababkovo project will become part of Russkoye Pole's investment program in the "Broiler" segment, with a total volume of over 10 billion rubles. Over the preceding five years, the agricultural holding invested more than 16 billion rubles in Nizhny Novgorod projects; at the end of 2025, the company launched a broiler complex in Verkhopolye — the first greenfield poultry site built in the region in 50 years.[1][2]

The agreement was signed by Egor Polyakov, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Anton Romanov, general director of the agricultural holding. Nikolay Denisov, the Region's Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources, described Russkoye Pole as a systemic player in both the broiler and egg segments of poultry farming.[1]

Related agreements at Golden Autumn 2026

At the same exhibition venue, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Resources of Nizhny Novgorod Region, the management company "Russkoye Pole," and the Federal Research Center for Animal Husbandry — the L. K. Ernst Institute of Animal Husbandry (VIZh) — signed a three-party cooperation agreement on selective breeding work to revive the Red Gorbatov breed of cows. Nizhny Novgorod Regional Institute of Management and Economics of the Agro-Industrial Complex and the autonomous non-profit organization "Agribusiness and Education Development Foundation" agreed on a strategic partnership in education and career guidance for schoolchildren. The Nizhny Novgorod developer of compound feed equipment "Doza-Agro" concluded an agreement with the government of Kherson Region.[1] More than 40 Nizhny Novgorod enterprises presented their products at the exhibition.[1]
