Dmitriev Sergei Mikhailovich

Dmitriev Sergey Mikhaylovich (born June 19, 1957) — Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs, Head of the Department of Nuclear Power Plants at NSTU.

Since 2011, Dmitriev S.M. has held the position of Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University; from 2005 to 2008 he served as Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs and Vice-Rector for the Development of Innovation and Educational Activities, and from 2008 to 2011 as Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Nuclear Energy and Technical Physics and Vice-Rector for the Development of Innovation and Educational Activities at the same university.

Dmitriev S.M. has played a defining role in establishing 16 base departments of NSTU, operating at the largest enterprises of Nizhny Novgorod and providing specialist training in accordance with the specific needs of the city's industries.

Dmitriev S.M. is a full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and Vice-President of the Prokhorov Academy of Engineering Sciences; he heads the regional branch of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia and the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Nuclear Society of Russia, and serves as co-chairman of the Volga–Yangtze association of higher educational institutions of the Volga Federal District of Russia and the People's Republic of China.

Author of more than 180 scholarly and educational-methodological works, 2 monographs, 3 textbooks, and 10 patents and author's certificates. The research results of S.M. Dmitriev have been published in more than 320 works, including 6 scientific monographs; he has been granted 16 author's certificates and patents, and has written 17 textbooks and teaching aids, some of which have been translated into English and Chinese and published abroad.

Academic Degrees, Honorary Titles, and State Awards

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. S.M. Dmitriev has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Belarusian National Technical University and Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. In 2018, by decision of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma, S.M. Dmitriev was conferred the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Nizhny Novgorod." His other awards include the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland," 2nd Class; an Acknowledgment from the President of the Russian Federation; the badge "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation" (2007); the Silver and Gold Medals of Rosatom State Corporation "For Merit in Enhancing Nuclear Power Plant Safety" (2007); the Rosatom State Corporation badge "For Contribution to the Development of the Nuclear Industry," 2nd Class (2011); and the Honorary Diploma of the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region "For Merit in the Training of Scientific, Pedagogical, and Research Personnel in Nizhny Novgorod Region" (2011).
