The Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) was a political party active in the Russian Empire and Soviet Russia from 1898. Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky) Krai was one of the centers of party activity: the Nizhny Novgorod Committee of the RSDLP operated in the city, and during the 1905 Revolution prominent party figures carried out organizational work here.
Activity in Nizhny Novgorod
In the summer of 1905, sent by the Moscow Committee of the RSDLP, the revolutionary Olga Mikhailovna Genkina (1881–1905) worked in Nizhny Novgorod, organizing workers' circles. That same year, 1905, Nizhny Novgorod native Andrei Ilyich Zhekhanov joined the party — he later took part in the First World War and the Civil War.
