Zhekhanov Andrei Ilyich (1884, Nizhny Novgorod — 5 May 1924, Moscow) — Soviet party and state figure, Nizhny Novgorod, participant in the First World War and the Civil War.[2] RSDLP).[2]
Revolutionary activity
Before joining the revolutionary movement, Zhekhanov worked at a mine, then in Moscow. He served in the Russian army from 1906 to 1908, after which in 1908 he was arrested and exiled to Oryol Governorate for revolutionary activity; he remained in exile until 1914.[2] From 1914 to 1917 he again served in the Russian army.[2]
In 1917 he found himself in Petrograd, where he headed the regimental committee of the RSDLP(b). As chairman of the regimental committee, on 25 October 1917 he took part in the storming of the Winter Palace.[1]
Participation in the Civil War and party work
In 1918–1919 Zhekhanov served in the Red Army on the Eastern Front.[2] From 1920 to early 1922 he did party work in Nizhny Novgorod.[2] From April to September 1922 he held the post of secretary of the Bashkir Regional Committee of the RCP(b).[2] From November 1922 he headed a department of the Tsaritsyn Governorate Committee of the RCP(b), and from 1923 he was its secretary. He held the post of responsible secretary of the Tsaritsyn Governorate Committee of the RCP(b) from July 1923 to April 1924; after his departure this post was taken by Boris Petrovich Sheboldaev.[3][2] He was a delegate to the XII Congress of the RCP(b) and the XI All-Russian Congress of Soviets.[2]
Moscow; according to available information, death resulted from suicide in April 1924.[1]
