On September 5, 2026, a new 925-space parking lot opened on the grounds of the Sovkombank Arena football stadium at the Strelka in Nizhny Novgorod, intended for visitors to the "Volga Arena" ice arena and major city events.[1] The opening took place on the eve of the HC Torpedo's hockey season opener at its new home arena.[2]

Location and operating hours

The parking lot is located in the "Sport Port" area, part of the Sovkombank Arena grounds.[1] It operates only on hockey match days and during major sporting and cultural events at the Volga Arena.[3] Entry is through a barrier at Gate No. 1: access to the grounds is available no earlier than two hours before an event begins, and vehicles must exit no later than three hours after it ends.[4] Staff are on duty at the entrance to manage the flow of vehicles and assist in non-standard situations.[1]

Cost and payment

The parking fee is 800 rubles. Payment is accepted by card only, via a terminal at the entrance.[2] There are plans to add the option of advance payment on the Sovkombank Arena website linked to the vehicle's license plate number — the website address is scbarena-nn.ru.[3] Owners of vehicles displaying a disabled badge who are registered in the Federal Register of Disabled Persons may use the parking lot free of charge.[1]

Background and significance

The decision to organize the parking lot was made in response to requests from fans who had difficulty finding space for their vehicles near the arena. According to Nizhny Novgorod Region Minister of Sport Dmitry Kabaylo, the new parking lot is intended to make attending matches more convenient and to relieve congestion in the courtyards of the surrounding residential blocks.[1] The Minister also noted that the development of the cultural and sports cluster at the Strelka envisions not only modern infrastructure but also comfort for visitors.[3] Prior to the parking lot's opening, an access control system costing 65.5 million rubles had been purchased for it.[1]
