"Nizhegorodsky Kraeved" ("Nizhny Novgorod Local Historian") is a scholarly society engaged in the study of the history and local lore of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It has been active as of the 2020s; the society's chairman is Fyodor Alexandrovich Seleznyov, Doctor of Historical Sciences and professor.
Activities
The society brings together researchers engaged in local history. Its chairman, Fyodor Seleznyov, also sits on the council of the Union of Local Historians of Russia and on the Publishing Council of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. On Seleznyov's initiative, the Encyclopedia of Nizhny Novgorod was created.
Recognition
In the 2020s the society's work received public recognition: in the "Literature" category of the Nizhny Novgorod Prize, the society's chairman Fyodor Seleznyov was honored for his book "The History of Nizhny Novgorod."
