Murashkinskaya Street is a street in Kanavino of Nizhny Novgorod, located in the historic quarter of the former yarmarka lands near Main Fair House.

Location

The street is part of a group of thoroughfares laid out during the Soviet era on the site of the trading arcades of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. It serves as one of the boundaries of Lenin Square, established in 1968: the square is bounded by Sovetskaya, Murashkinskaya, and Sovnarkomovskaya Streets and Manufakturnaya Embankment.

History

Before the revolution, the territory around the Main Yarmarka Building was occupied by the permanent and temporary trading arcades of the yarmarka. The present-day street network of this part of Kanavino District, including Murashkinskaya Street, took shape during the Soviet era on the site of the former yarmarka development.
