Maternity Hospital No. 1 No. 3 — a former obstetric facility in Nizhny Novgorod, located in Avtozavodsky District on Druzhayev Street. The building was closed in the mid-2020s and in 2024 was transferred to the municipal enterprise "Dom.NN" for assessment of its urban development potential.[1]

Closure and subsequent fate of the building

According to NewsRoom24, the maternity hospital ceased operations several years ago. In 2024, the building was transferred to the enterprise "Dom.NN," which is to determine possible directions for its future use. Based on the results of the Nizhny Novgorod Region maternity hospital rankings compiled by the Center for Medical Inspection in January 2014 through patient surveys, the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution of Nizhny Novgorod Region "Maternity Hospital No. 3 of the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod" ranked 1st among all obstetric facilities in the region. The survey covered assessments of waiting conditions prior to hospitalization, the courtesy and professionalism of physicians and nursing staff, the quality of food and room cleaning, and the availability of medications; 50 patients were surveyed at each facility.[2][2][1]

The proximity of the closed facility to neighboring areas influenced urban planning decisions in the district: in 2026, City Hall denied an investor's request to allocate a plot for a tennis complex adjacent to the maternity hospital building, citing, among other reasons, the recreational status of the surrounding zone. The head of the urban development department, Alla Konovnitsyna, noted that the proximity to the then-still-operating maternity hospital precluded the placement of noisy sports infrastructure, and the regional minister of property relations, Sergey Barinov, supported the city's position.[1]
