Maxim Zhuk is the son of Vadim Anatolyevich Zhuk, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region who served as general director and then president of ZAO NPSK Metallostroykonstruktsiya (MSK). Maxim Zhuk held the post of general director of ZAO NPSK Metallostroykonstruktsiya and for about eight years worked as an assistant to a deputy in the Leninsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. In the 2010 elections to the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod, Maxim Zhuk initially filed his papers as a self-nominated candidate in District No. 8, but on August 25 he withdrew his registration and became the candidate in the same district from the United Russia party. Maxim Zhuk's campaign account in the 2010 elections received 4,108,990 rubles, yet the victory in District No. 8 went to the self-nominated candidate Evgeny Kuzmin, who had nearly half as large a fund — about 2,527,500 rubles. Four years after the failure of 2010, his father again put forward Maxim Zhuk as a candidate for the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod in the next local government elections.
