«Logoprom — Borsky Crossing» was a water transport route across the Volga between Nizhny Novgorod and the city of Bor, operating during the 2010s. The crossing connected the Nizhne-Volzhskaya Embankment of Nizhny Novgorod with Rynochnaya Square on the Bor side.[1] By the mid-2010s the route had ceased operations.[2]

Vessels and nature of the crossing

The crossing was operated by hovercraft, which made it year-round: services ran even in winter, over ice and snow. At various times several vessels of different sizes were used on the route — from small nine-seat craft to larger ones comparable in dimensions to a bus. One of the vessels bore the name «Betancourt, Augustin de».[2] The journey across the water took approximately two minutes.[2]

During the route's operation, departures ran every 30 minutes; in an earlier period, every 15 minutes.[2] The timetable recorded in the route database as of December 2021 listed sailings from 07:00 to 22:00 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, though by that point the route was no longer running.[1]

Infrastructure and fares

Free minibuses ran to the piers on both sides, transporting passengers from the central squares of Nizhny Novgorod and Bor upon presentation of a purchased ticket.[2] The carrier's office was located at Verkhne-Volzhskaya Embankment, 8/59.[2]

The fare schedule published in the route database included: a passenger ticket — 50 rubles, a child's ticket (ages 5–10) — 25 rubles; transport of a bicycle or moped — 120 rubles, a passenger car — 280–450 rubles depending on class, vehicles of the "GAZelle" type — 450–600 rubles; a special sailing — 15,500 rubles.[1] In earlier years, the passenger ticket price was 80–100 rubles.[2]

Cessation of Operations

Signs of irregular service had been recorded as early as 2012–2013, with passengers reporting cancelled sailings and an inability to obtain schedule information.[2] In April 2015, reports emerged that the carrier's passenger transport license had been revoked; the vessels were moored at the Bor shore during that period.[2] The route was permanently closed; the alternative became the Nizhny Novgorod–Bor cable car, which had been under construction in parallel with the ferry service and launched in 2012.
