«Kladovka. Gallery of Stories» is an art gallery and museum space in Nizhny Novgorod, located at 8 Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street. It is part of the Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve (NGIAMZ). The gallery originated as a gathering place for the city's avant-garde artists, and later shifted its focus to collecting artifacts of the Soviet era related to music and culture.[1]

Exhibition

The permanent exhibition is built on the principle of a "time machine": visitors are surrounded by musical instruments, record players, vinyl records, posters, and objects of Soviet everyday life. The gallery recreates the atmosphere of a USSR recording studio; a separate section is devoted to Nizhny Novgorod musicians past and present, as well as radio and audio equipment manufactured at the Gorky factories.[1]

Among the notable parts of the collection are a Beatlemania archive from the 1960s–70s, a cinema display case with black-and-white portraits of actors born in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and an exhibition of posters by Valery Barykin in the style of "Soviet pin-up." Visitors can also purchase old vinyl records from a selection featuring a wide range of performers.[1]

Program and Space

From May through October, an outdoor courtyard with a stage decorated to evoke a Soviet apartment is open; it hosts photo sessions, outdoor exhibitions, theatrical performances, and concerts. The main exhibition is designed for visitors aged 6 and up; the "Corner of the Soviet Music Lover" tour is for ages 12 and up. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00; the last Thursday of each month is a sanitary day.[1]
