The Institute of Management — a branch of RANEPA (full official name: the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management — a branch of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration") — is a state institution of higher education in Nizhny Novgorod, founded in 1946.[3] It is a structural subdivision of the Presidential Academy (RANEPA) and trains specialists in the fields of management, economics, law, computer science, and sociology.

History and Status

The institute traces its history to 1946 — over more than 80 years it has grown into one of the prominent universities of Nizhny Novgorod.[3] Its license for educational activities was issued on December 7, 2018 (Л035-00115-77/00119548). With approximately 4,800 students, the institute ranks among the five largest universities in Nizhny Novgorod, placing 5th out of 13 by number of enrolled students.[3]

From 2016 to 2019, the Dzerzhinsk branch of RANEPA was headed by Aleksandr Vasilyevich Paramonov; in September 2019 he was appointed director of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management.[2]

Educational Activities

The institute offers 26 programs at the bachelor's, specialist's, and master's degree levels across 8 fields of study, including management and business administration, economics and finance, law, computer science and engineering, and sociology.[3] Full-time, part-time, and distance learning formats are available. In 2026, the institute has 209 state-funded places and 996 fee-paying places; tuition costs range from 100,000 to 350,000 rubles per year depending on the program.[2][3]

The average Unified State Exam score of admitted applicants (75.30) exceeds that of 81% of Russian universities.[3] Structurally, the institute comprises 12 departments; more than 500 students graduate from it annually. Eight student self-governance bodies are active, and a dormitory is available.

Notable Alumni

Among the institute's alumni are Naumov Sergey Vasilyevich, who served as Minister of Education of Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Anna Valeryevna Tatаrintseva, a deputy of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod.
