The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the University of the Russian Academy of Education (URAO) is a non-state institution of higher education founded in 1995.[1] It is located at: Sergievskaya Street.[2]

Accreditation and status

On 17 July 2009 the branch received a certificate of state accreditation.[1] The branch successfully underwent two state accreditation procedures, confirming that its curricula and material base met state standards; graduates receive state-recognized diplomas.[3] The parent institution is the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the University of the Russian Academy of Education), which has branches in more than ten cities of Russia, including Astrakhan, Vorkuta, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, Chelyabinsk and others.[2]

Studies

At the time the data was collected, the branch had 1,721 students enrolled; tuition ranged from 32 to 39 thousand rubles per year.[1] Training was offered in 17 fields, including psychology, law, journalism, management, economics, accounting, analysis and audit, finance and credit, commerce, cultural studies, public relations, business informatics, and economics and management at enterprises.[1] Within the "Cultural Studies" specialty the branch has opened a specialization in "Management in the Sphere of Culture" ("art business"), positioned as unique for Nizhny Novgorod.[3] At the branch's nine departments, 85% of teaching staff hold candidate or doctoral academic degrees.[3] Over the years of its work the branch has graduated more than five thousand specialists, employed at organizations such as the Nizhny Novgorod Bar Association, the Nizhny Novgorod branch of Vneshtorgbank, the Department of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and others.[3]

Academic building

The Nizhny Novgorod branch of URAO has its own academic building, built in 2002; it is equipped with a conference hall, a hall for viewing recorded lectures, forensics and psychological-practicum laboratories, a language lab, two computer classrooms and a gymnasium.[3]
