Ichalki is a village in the south of Nizhny Novgorod Region, in the Perevozsky District, the administrative center of the Ichalkovsky rural settlement.
It is located 18 km from the district center, the town of Perevoz, on the banks of the Pyana River.
History
According to legend, the settlement was founded, after Ivan the Terrible's campaign against Kazan, by the Mordvin Ichal, who had helped him (in Erzya, Itsalo), who gave the village its name.

- Near the village lies the Ichalkovsky nature reserve, with unique natural communities and karst caves.
- The Ichalkovsky caves, an undisputed natural monument dating back to the most ancient times, bear in today's Nizhny Novgorod culture "sanitized" names such as "Studencheskaya" ("Student"), "Kholodnaya" ("Cold") and the like, which is reminiscent of the place names found in territories such as America or Crimea (e.g., settlements called "Pionerskoye" ("Pioneer") or "Planernoye" ("Glider"), and the like), where the local population was, under one pretext or another, swiftly and uncompromisingly displaced from its accustomed habitat.
