Chazov Yevgeny Ivanovich (born June 10, 1929) — Director General of the Russian Cardiology Research and Production Complex of Rosmedtekhnologii under the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Hero of Socialist Labour.

An outstanding cardiologist and organizer of medicine, Yevgeny Ivanovich Chazov is a member of the Council for Science under the President of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Albert Schweitzer World Academy of Medicine, an expert of the World Health Organization, a member of the Bureau of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Honorary President of the Association of Cardiologists of the CIS Countries.

Achievements

Awarded the Order of Lenin (four times), the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd class, and the Grand Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1982), USSR State Prizes (1969, 1976) and the State Prize of the Russian Federation (1991), and the International Andrew the First-Called Prize.

The title "Honorary Citizen of the City of Nizhny Novgorod" was conferred by decree of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod No. 83 dated June 24, 2009.
