In September 2026 the design for an extreme sports park on Zhukovsky Street in Arzamas was approved. The new facility is being created on the site of a half-abandoned skate park that stood there before.[1] The idea came from local riders; the project is being carried out with the support of the city administration and DOM.RF.[2]
What the design includes
The design was drawn up by the team of the regional Institute for Urban Environment Development together with the design department of DOM.RF, specialist experts and residents of the city.[2] In 2026 the institute's specialists held a series of meetings with representatives of Gaidar Park, municipal officials, athletes and townspeople; every wish expressed was taken into account in the final design.[3]
The new space includes a skate plaza with renewed riding features, a pump track for cyclists and scooter riders, workout and table tennis areas, and rebuilt football and basketball pitches.[2] The centrepiece will be a covered amphitheatre serving both as spectator seating and as a meeting place.[1] The facilities are completed by a pavilion with lavatories, a room for security and maintenance staff, a video surveillance system and renewed footpaths alongside the neighbouring arboretum and technical college.[2]
Context and client
The authors see the extreme sports park as part of a whole together with the neighbouring areas: the Arzamas arboretum, Gaidar Park, the square by the water tower and the Eternal Flame.[1] The client is the management company of the "Arzamas — Diveyevo — Sarov" cluster.[2] The work is planned in several stages.[2]
