Vaneyev Anatoly Alexandrovich (1872–1899) — a native of Nizhny Novgorod, one of the first Russian Social Democrats, a member of the St. Petersburg "Union of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class," and a close associate of V. I. Lenin. He died in Siberia of tuberculosis at the age of 26.
Biography
Vaneyev studied at the Nizhny Novgorod District School — this fact is recorded in the heritage-protection documentation of the building at Ulyanova Street, which is a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
Together with Lenin, Vaneyev served his exile in the village of Yermakovskoye, located not far from Shushenskoye. He died there of tuberculosis.
Legacy
One of the major streets in the Upper Part bears Vaneyev's name — Vaneyev Street, which runs from Freedom Square to the upper districts through Soviet Square.
