Aleksey Vladimirovich Krupko is a Nizhny Novgorod orthopedic trauma surgeon, Candidate of Medical Sciences, and specialist in sports medicine and arthroscopic joint surgery.[3]
Education and career
In 2005 he graduated with distinction from the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy. In 2007–2009 he completed a clinical residency in traumatology and orthopedics. Since 2007 he has worked at the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PRMU) of the Russian Ministry of Health (formerly the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, NNIITO). In 2009–2023 he worked at the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. In 2011 he completed a specialization in arthroscopic surgery at the Vreden Russian Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (RNIITO) in Saint Petersburg. In 2015 he defended a dissertation titled "Surgical Treatment of Patients with Funnel Chest Deformity." From 2021 he headed the Sports Injury Center of the Privolzhsky Research Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health.[3]
He has more than 20 years of medical practice. Each year he performs about 600 surgical procedures, including on children.[3] He sees patients at the multidisciplinary Koral Clinic in Nizhny Novgorod.[2]
Scientific and professional activity
His clinical and research interests include sports medicine, arthroscopy of the knee, hip, and shoulder joints in children and adults, congenital developmental anomalies of the lower limbs, and organ-preserving surgery. He is the author of 5 patents, 7 innovation proposals, and 20 scientific publications.[3]
Since 2017 he has been a lecturer for Smith & Nephew and an expert at the Amtek educational center (Kazan). He trains surgeons in knee arthroscopy, including at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University. He is an active member of the international trauma association AO Trauma and a participant in the world's largest arthroscopy and orthopedics conferences, ESSKA and ISAKOS.[3]
He regularly undergoes advanced training at foreign clinics (the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, the UAE, Italy, Poland) and at leading centers in Russia, three to four times a year.[3]
Recent developments
In October 2026 Krupko described the diagnosis and injury mechanism of Artyom Mamaev, a player for the Nizhny Novgorod PMFK "Torpedo": during a match the footballer suffered a rupture of the medial collateral ligament of the knee joint with pronounced joint instability. A successful operation was performed to reconstruct the superficial bundle of the medial collateral ligament; two hours after the procedure the athlete was able to move around on crutches.[1]
