Zarechny Boulevard is one of the popular places for walks in the Zarechye district. In August 2026, on Zarechny Boulevard, near the future "Zarechnaya" station, the first support pylon of the cable car under construction across the Oka River was installed — a tubular structure 18 meters high, 1.8 meters in diameter at the base and 1 meter at the top, designed with the surrounding urban development in mind.[2] The cable car route will run from Zarechny Boulevard to Shveitsariya Park; the line will have three stations — "Zarechnaya," "Tikhaya Gavan" ("Quiet Harbor"), and "Prospekt Gagarina" — and a total of 15 high-strength steel pylons will be installed along the route.
The project is being implemented by JSC "Urbantech Cable Cars" (Urbantekh Kanatnye Dorogi); by the time the first pylon was installed, pile-driving work along the route was 90% complete, and the pylons will carry roller balance beams for the load-bearing and haul rope with cabins.[2] Construction of the cable car began in August 2025; the main work is planned for completion by the end of 2026, service is expected to open in 2027, and the project's cost is estimated at 5.2 billion rubles. According to Sergei Morozov, deputy governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, about 100,000 people live within the cable car's catchment area on both banks of the Oka at the time of construction, and by 2033 more than 700,000 square meters of housing are planned to be built in this zone.[1]
