Main facts of his career
1952–1954 – worked at GorkovGESstroy (the Gorky hydroelectric-station construction trust). In 1954 he entered the postgraduate program of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute, defended his candidate's dissertation, and began scholarly and teaching work at the institute. From 1962 he served as acting deputy head, and from 1970 to 1984 he headed the Department of Strength of Materials. After the 1984 formation of the combined Department of Ship Structural Mechanics and Strength of Materials, he continued to oversee the teaching process in his discipline. He developed an original method of presenting the course, recognized at many universities across the country and reflected in textbooks. His contribution to organizing All-Russian olympiads in strength of materials is widely recognized. Author of more than 200 scholarly and methodological works, and editor of the scholarly monograph "The Method of Non-Planar Sections." From 1962 to 2002 he worked as deputy and then head of the university's methodological department, oversaw its publishing activities, and was editor of the newspaper "Zhdanovets."
