Evgenia Valerievna Suslova (born January 22, 1986, Nizhny Novgorod Region) is a Russian poet, translator, philologist and literary critic. She holds a candidate of philological sciences degree and is a member of the "Nizhny Novgorod Wave" project group.[1]

Work and publications

Suslova's poems and reviews have been published in the almanac "Translit", and in the journals "Vozdukh," "Textonly," "Novoe Literaturnoe Obozrenie," "Novy Bereg," "Ural," and other publications.[1] She has taken part in poetry festivals: "M-8" (Vologda, 2007), "Debut-Saratov" (Saratov, 2007), Strelka)))), Cheboksary), and others.[1]

Her first poetry collection was "Svod Masshtaba" ("Scale Vault") (St. Petersburg: "Translit" almanac; Free Marxist Publishing House, 2013, Kraft series, 67 pp.).[1] Her second collection, "Zhivotnoe" ("The Animal", 2016), also received high praise from critics.[2] Besides poetry, Suslova is the author of popular-science books for children, including titles from the "We Live in the Age of Peter I" series and other children's encyclopedias.[1]

Academic activity

In 2013 Suslova defended her candidate dissertation on the topic "Reflexivity in the Language of Contemporary Russian Poetry (Subjectivation and Tautologization)."[1] She is a member of the working group of the Center for Linguistic Research of World Poetry at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.[1] In addition, Suslova graduated from the Rodchenko Art School of Photography and Multimedia and works in the field of language and media studies.[2]

Awards and recognition

Suslova was included in the longlist of the "Debut" prize in the "Poetry" category (2006), and in the shortlists of the "Literaturrentgen" prize (2007, 2010) and the "Razlichie" ("Difference") prize (2014). In 2014 and 2017 her poetry was nominated for the Andrei Bely Prize.[1]

In October 2014 Suslova took part in a poetry evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Gennady Aygi, held as part of the international conference "The Language and Languages of Poetry" at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.[3]
