The Voskhod is a river hydrofoil of Project 352 carrying 71 passengers, the successor to the Raketa (hydrofoil), designed by the Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Ships named after R. E. Alexeyev. The series was built at the Feodosia production association More from 1973 to 1992; the ships were exported to Europe and Vietnam. [1][2]
A change of generation
By the early 1970s the Raketa, which had opened the era of the winged passenger fleet, had become outdated: requirements for comfort, fuel economy, and servicing had grown. The Voskhod was built as its direct replacement — for seventy-one passengers, with a more spacious cabin and a modern powerplant. [1]
Production continued for nearly twenty years and outlasted the country for which the vessel had been designed: the last Voskhods were delivered in 1992. [1][2]
Abroad
Voskhods were supplied to European countries and to Vietnam. Some of the vessels are still in service today — both on Russian rivers and abroad — remaining the most widespread representative of the classic Soviet hydrofoil design on inland routes today. [1][2]
