Main facts of his career
He was sent to work at the Polytechnic Institute in the department of "Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations," where he rose from graduate student to associate professor and professor. For 36 years he has combined active teaching work with research work. As a lecturer, supervisor of laboratory practicums, coursework and diploma design, he took part in research work and in training personnel for industrial enterprises. He is the author of more than 70 scholarly and teaching-methodical works and 7 USSR author's certificates, which contributed to the enrichment of domestic industrial science and technology. Under his direct participation a number of special laboratories were created, and a new specialty was opened at the department he heads.
He conducts scientific research on the current pressing problem of "Pulsed Energy Source for Technological Processes and Electrophysical Installations." He is a member of the editorial board of a number of industry journals. He constantly devotes great attention to training highly qualified personnel. Under his supervision, full-time graduate students are trained; six candidate dissertations have been prepared and defended, and two more graduate students are preparing for their defense. In doing so he shows himself to be a mature researcher, leader, experienced organizer, and mentor of young people. He actively participates in the work of a specialized Council as an official opponent. For many years he has skillfully and successfully combined scientific-pedagogical work with administrative-economic, managerial, and social activity.
He twice headed the university's Komsomol organization, for five years was secretary of the institute's party committee, and for more than six years worked in the Nizhegorodsky district of the city of Gorky as chairman of the executive committee of the Nizhegorodsky District Council of People's Deputies, and as first secretary of the district committee of the CPSU. He worked as secretary of the regional committee for socio-economic affairs. He was repeatedly elected a deputy of the district, city, and regional Councils of People's Deputies, was a delegate to the XVII Congress of the Komsomol and the XXVII Congress of the CPSU. During three convocations of the State Duma of the Russian Federation he was an assistant to a State Duma deputy.
He is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. From August 2001 to February 2004 his life was connected with work in the administration of Nizhny Novgorod Region, as first deputy Governor) and head of the Governor's administration. While working in the regional administration he actively took part in shaping sectoral programs for the region's socio-economic development, took part in the work of the Regional Government, and worked with law enforcement agencies and with the region's districts.
Awards
For services in the field of higher education of the USSR he was awarded the badge "Honored Worker of Higher Education." He was repeatedly awarded Certificates of Honor by the USSR Ministry of Higher Education and the RSFSR Ministry of Higher Education. He has been recommended for an award for active work in organizing personnel training as a well-known specialist and organizer in the field of education and in education management.
