The Vera Theatre is a municipal children's theatre in the Kanavinsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. It has operated since 1992 under the artistic direction of Vera Alexandrovna Gorshkova Vera Alexandrovna of the Russian Federation.

History and leadership

Since 1992 the theatre's artistic director has been Vera Alexandrovna Gorshkova (born 29 October 1947), a graduate of the Moscow University of the Arts in the specialty of "director of dramatic theatre" (1973). Before founding the theatre she headed the studio theatre of the inter-union Lenin Palace of Culture (1976–1991). Gorshkova has also taught an acting course at the Yevstigneev Nizhny Novgorod Theatre College.

Standing in the district

The theatre is part of the cultural infrastructure of the Kanavinsky District and is listed among the cultural institutions operating alongside music schools, cinemas and libraries. The theatre has a board of trustees that has included, among others, the entrepreneur Alexander Valeryevich Nazarenkov, who was engaged in charitable work in the Kanavinsky District for more than eight years.
