«Torpedo» is a professional futsal club from Nizhny Novgorod, founded in 2012.[4] Starting with the 2020/21 season, it has competed in the Super League — Russia's top futsal division — becoming the first representative of the Nizhny Novgorod Region at that level.[4] Home matches are held at the Mescherskiy Sports and Recreation Complex.[4]

History and Achievements

Before reaching the Super League, the club won the Vysshaya Liga and performed successfully in the Russian Cup.[4] In the Super League, Torpedo has gradually established itself among the competitive teams: the club's achievements include a playoff berth and a silver medal at the Russian championship.[2] In addition to the main squad, the club's structure includes the women's team «Normanochka» — winner of the 2026 Russian Cup — and the youth side Torpedo-2, which claimed bronze at the Vysshaya Liga Championship.[2] The club has also won the Russian Futsal Super Cup.[2]

Squad and Coaching Staff

In the 2025/26 season, the head coach of the team was Gennadiy Garagulya.[1] In the 2026/27 season, Evgeniy Ivanyak took over as head coach.[2] The club's players include goalkeeper Aleksandr Kostromin, versatile players Ivan Malinin, Ivan Obzhorin, Danil Kutuzov, Aleksandr Telegin, Shokhrukh Makhmadaminov, as well as Brazilian futsal players Vinicius Gabriel Moreira Alves and Cardoso Enri.[4] Ivan Obzhorin was named the best footballer in Nizhny Novgorod.[2]

Appearances in the Super League

In the 2025/26 season, Torpedo competed in the Betcity Super League. In October 2025, the team lost at home to Novaya Generatsiya from Syktyvkar by a score of 2:5: Ivan Chishkala scored the only goal of the first half, while Gabriel Souza converted a penalty in the second half.[1] In the 2026/27 season, the club opened with a 5:1 victory over Tyumen, then lost twice to IrAero in Irkutsk (6:5 and 4:3) and drew with Surgut 3:3.[2] After seven rounds, the team sat in third place in the standings with 11 points, trailing Gazprom-Yugra and Norilsk.[2] Nikolay Smirnov (6 goals) was the leading scorer at the start of the 2026/27 season.[2]
