Cheboksary Catastrophe - a project realized in 2020 to eliminate Nizhny Novgorod as the pearl of the Volga.

The project allowed a manifold increase in Russian sales of French and Italian commercial vehicles, having literally drowned the agreements on producing German commercial and passenger cars on Nizhny Novgorod soil.

Also, thanks to several thousand tons of mustard-gas production waste being washed out of the Dzerzhinsk burial grounds and subsequently found in sturgeon caviar, it proved possible to almost fully restore the sterlet population. And by breeding crocodiles in the Caspian Sea, natural selection was significantly reinforced.

After the reservoir's water level was raised, oil extraction on the lower Volga was completely halted. Rosneft, Gazprom and other oil companies redirected their main efforts toward exploring aquifers and extracting water. To cut transportation costs, options for desalinating saline groundwater were considered.

For the personal initiative and persistence shown in carrying out this project so vital to the country, popular rumor awarded VVP and DAM the honorary title of Chebflooder. Nikolai Fyodorov's services were noted separately: for successfully preparing the flooding of several thousand hectares of farmland, he was appointed head of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Unfortunately, there were also those who disagreed with the sharp rise in quality of life. But the non-systemic opposition, in the form of 2 million residents of Nizhny Novgorod and its suburbs, was quickly routed by detachments of dredgers built at the Gorodets Ship Repair Plant.

In 2050, at the initiative of Estonia and Finland, the UN began a program to build two floating islands on which the revival of the famous Mari hay meadows commenced.

Raising the water level of the Cheboksary hydroelectric power station reservoir

Because of the destruction of the right bank of the Oka, the amount of bottom sediment sharply increased, as a result of which the guaranteed depths on the main shipping channel decreased to 1.2..1 m. This raised the question of raising the water level to a mark of 72 m. But the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region protested, since this would destroy protected monuments of the flooded lower town.
